Confirmation in the Lutheran Church is a public profession of faith prepared for by long and careful instruction.
- Traditionally in the Lutheran Church, young people begin Confirmation classes in Junior High School.
- The purpose of these classes is to give adolescents opportunity to learn the basic beliefs of the Christian faith and to begin the life-long process of living a Christian life.
- At the end of these sessions, youth publicly confirm the promises made for them when they were baptized.
- If a young person has not been baptized, he/she will be baptized before being confirmed.
- After Confirmation, young people are considered full, voting members of their congregation.
Our program uses a cross-generational approach: both parents and adults from within the congregation are involved in this important faith formation ministry. Students learn God’s purpose for their lives through joining in the life of the church.
